Indie publishing is a double-edged sword.
The author maintains creative license over their books, giving them complete control over their business. The challenge then becomes time management. Time is a commodity that cannot be reproduced; therefore, the constant weight of responsibility pulls the author away from the most necessary element —writing. I can partner with and assist you in publishing your books from start to finish.
My Goal
Communication is Key
How I Can Help
Is not only to free your time to write, but also to help optimize your business.
Consistency, details, and branding all matter a great deal in the long term success of your business. Fully optimizing takes time and commitment. Most of these items are not self-sustaining indefinitely. They must be monitored, tweaked, and updated as information changes.
Communication is Key
Communication is Key
Communication is Key
The biggest factor for the relationship between the author and myself is communication.
While it’s completely logical for an author to be out of touch with the world when deep into a project, regular correspondence is a necessity. I'm here to filter the many voices into just one.
Do you need a Business Manager?
I’m not an assistant. My skills and level of responsibility far exceed that position. I'm a business manager. I work with full time authors who need someone to help optimize and keep things running smoothly so they can write. I’m an independent contractor, and our relationship is based on working together—as a team. I do not work for you but with you. We both need to feel comfortable communicating candidly for the relationship to work at its full potential.
If you’re ready to invest in your business, and you need a business manager who can free up your time and mental bandwidth, then let’s set up a discovery call. I’d love to discuss how I can help manage, optimize, and grow your business. Email and let's schedule a time to talk.
What can I manage for you?
I can help take your work from manuscript to published book.
My skills exceed a simple list, but here is a partial list of things I can manage for you:
Newsletters - formatting, migration, and management
ARC Teams - cultivating, maintaining, and accountability
Organization - documents, covers, graphics, in one place via Dropbox
Graphics - promotional, teasers, and cover photo updates
Website teams - branding consistency updates or new builds
Book formatting - from manuscript to .epubs and pdfs for publishing
Retailers - uploads, updates, preorders, etc.
Review sites - BookBub and Goodreads
Audiobooks - auditions, proposals, and tracking releases
Communication - editors, readers, monitor inboxes, respond to inquiries, etc
Series Rebrands - strategize and implement
Author Branding - consistency across websites, retailers, etc.
Cover Design - communicate with designer and manage project
Accompany online meetings - second set of ears for Zoom meetings
Travel Companion - limited basis for signings and conferences
Clients and myself discuss and cultivate a plan based on individual needs. This list is not complete.
Are There things I don't do?
In order to maximize my time, there are a few services I do not offer.
I will not take full responsibility for your social media management. While I will be involved for a variety of things, consistent engagement is a time-consuming and personalized pursuit.
Advertising is a full-time job. Setting up, monitoring, and iterating ads are not tasks I'm willing to take on. We can strategize creatives, copy, and various offer testing, but the work itself will remain your responsibility.
It's not my job to ensure the success of your books. Optimization, support, freeing your time, and clearing your brain space set you up for the best possible scenario. But it's up to you to deliver quality, professional stories.
What if You just need advice or coaching?
Not every author is in the position to hire a full time business manager, and my schedule is limited for full time clients.
If you don't currently need a full time business manager but would love help strategizing my coaching partner and I offer tailored packages after a 30 minute discovery call with a small fee.
Every author has different needs, so let's create a plan that works for you.
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE COST?
Second to "What does a business manager do?", the next biggest question I receive is, "How much do you charge?"
Managing an author's business is not a one size fits all situation. Each client I work with has a different set of needs. Freeing up your time is an investment in your business as for every new book you write, you add the potential for more income.
My retainers are 4 figures per month and based on individual needs. This level of support is for established authors looking to use targeted delegation to reach the next level.
During a discovery call, we'll chat about your current needs and long term goals. I'll then take time to work up a package proposal that meets your specific needs.
